LOOKIN' GOOD IN THEIR INDIGO DRESSES

We went to the nearby Summer Arts and Music Festival this past weekend.  The twins decided their new dresses were just right for all of the dancing that would surely come about.

They love festivals and were in heaven with all of the activity.

Even though there was lots of partying to attend to . . . they brought along their three-week old little cousin . . 

and kept a  good watch over her.

Nana had better find some more of that fabric.  Another dancing dress will surely be needed.

Better make that two . . because all the way across the country, just a month before, another little cousin  arrived.    So many dresses   . so many sweet little girls.   So many thanks.

A YEAR GONE BY

Oh . . hey . . HI!

No one can believe it .
but we are already one year old.

Mommy gave us first dibs . . she's the BEST!

SECOND ANNUAL M & D

Because my son-in-law's sister is pregnant and not feeling terrific yet, our Mother and Daughter San Francisco event was not going to happen this year.  But at the last minute mother-to-be had a good day.

And it was on.

The weekend just before Christmas but who could say no.  So many things would not get done.  No worries . . Christmas will surely come around next year.  Unlike last years jaunt, nothing formal was planned.  Have alot of Christmasy images that i will save for a more timely time.  So fun.  This year I canned the high heels . . memories of our comical Mason Street hike still fresh enough!

Those of us heading south caught the

Larkspur Ferry.

Crossing the SF Bay by ferry dates back to 1850 when ferryboats operated between SF and Oakland.  Ferry service bloomed and waned as transportation progressed. The birth of the Golden Gate Bridge eventually terminated it for about 29 years.  The Marin service was revived in 1976 when the Larkspur Ferry Terminal opened.

For us, it was a gloriously sunny journey across the Bay.  

Hard to miss as you depart is this 30-foot metal sculpture.  Created in 1990 by Dennis Patton.

Sir Francis Drake.  Elizabethan naval commander.  To some a hero to others a pirate.

Either way,  an awesome sculpture.

 A bustling Farmer's Market awaited us at the SF Ferry Building.  What a market it was.  No tears for any palette.

Vegan?  GOT IT!

Paleo?  GOT IT!

World's Best Hotdogs - YEP!

 Oh those daughters.  The Hyatt was just a skip across the

street.  Inside, thousands of streaming strands of lights from the top floor to the lobby.

ALL IN ONE DAY

I can't believe I received all of these in one day!

Mommy and Daddy went for a short Sunday kayaking adventure on our one day of

90 degree weather.  They dropped off these little bundles at our house.

was taken on Easter Sunday.

their floppy little whimsical attitude.

Two Precious. . .

BABY QUILTS ALL DONE AND WAITING

Well I told the twin grandbabies to take their time in there with Momma all around . . so to speak.  I explained that I needed just a bit more time to finish their quilts.  They are such patient little girls.  The quilts are now finished.   So.  Our arms are open!  I promised them i would not make identical quilts.  What fun is that anyway.  For one I used the Cut-and-Turn block that I showed you in a post last Nov. 19th.   It was a demo at our quilt guild meeting.  The other was an adorable fabric that I found at my friend Sandi's quilt shop in Ashland Oregon. . . Fabric of Vision.  Then I rushed them to All Washed Up Quilts to be quilted.  I left very little instruction since they are the quilters and I am not.  They hit it!  I love the whimsical magic they used to transform these quilts.

Anyway.  here are some pics.  And I'm sure that when the grandbabes see these they'll come a flying out - to get First Pick! 

Just loved this little print.
Bit of a "cheater" pattern.
The picture of the quilt back seems to have gotten lost somewhere.  I just wrapped the backing around to the front to create a simple binding.
That was easy!
Both quilts are bigger than the normal crib size.

I like the back too don't you?!  Momma likes modern fabric
so i sacrificed my last piece of an old favorite from Amy Butler.
Looks much better here than crammed in that fabric cabinet!

Used the Cut-and-Turn Blocks in two
colors and then an adorable little girl
solid block for the alternate.
